CONSCIOUS MOVEMENTS COLLECTIVE, INC. PRESENTS: A GRAVITY PRODUCTION

Healing InnoVations
AN AIDS IN AFRICA BENEFIT SHOW
AT THE KNITTING FACTORY
OCOTBER 21st, 2001 9pm

New York, Sunday, October 21st—Healing InnoVations is back again with another edutaining benefit show. After the success of the April 13th collaboration at Sin City, the members of GRAVITY and Conscious Movements Collective, Inc. have officially tied the knot to become the ultimate youth-run non-profit. While Conscious Movements Collective's overall goal is to inform and promote international human rights awareness among young people globally, Gravity's focused goal is to promote AIDS awareness and activism. Together with Subversive Skool, a subsidiary of SubVerse Music Inc. (www.subversemusic.com), GRAVITY brings back the same good feeling for New Yorkers through its Healing InnoVations events featuring multi-talented artists and the still-important message of the impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic on young people's lives.

Healing InnoVations brings new and old artists together to set the right vibe at the Knitting Factory. The Anomalies, the hip hop female crew, have become a GRAVITY staple and are back with even more members to grace the stage with their essential elements of hip hop. SubVerse Music's artist C Rayz Walz will balance this female energy nicely with his consciously-maneuvered MC skills. Healing InnoVations can't stop the live hip hop and brings from the South, (yes we love the South), Infectious Organisms whose continuous New York sold-out shows are only a minute testament to their musical mastery. Still keeping it hip hop is the queen of punk-rock Tamar-Kali, following up her CMJ performance at this benefit show. Her vocals and stage presence will prevent you from taking that drink break you thought you would after your classical hip hop favorites exited the stage. And speaking of deviating from classical hip hop is Anthony Mills, who has created his own breed of music with elements from reggae, jazz, blues and his own inner soul. Melanie, who in the last show accented Chloe's rhythmic feet (the tap performance) is here to perform in full effect with her soulful visions of life. After watching these performers along with the surprise artists, everyone will nod their head in agreement when the producers refer to Healing InnoVations as an artistic extravaganza.

With all this fly musical madness it's easy to forget that this show is a benefit with a purpose, especially since the producers have a knack for weaving in the political with the party. In keeping with the show's mission proceeds will be donated to another African youth-run organization, this time to award-winning Bush radio (www.bushradio.co.za).

Upcoming: A documentary on how the HIV/AIDS epidemic affects teens in the New York City area.
