Conscious Movements Collective, Inc.
presents a GRAVITY event :

Healing InnoVations
BENEFIT PARTY
AT SIN CITY LOUNGE
APRIL 13th, 2001, 9PM

New York, Gravity and Conscious Movements Collective have joined forces to influence positive change and action among the global hip hop community. While Conscious Movements Collective's overall goal is to inform and promote human rights activism among young people world wide, Gravity's focused goal is to promote AIDS awareness and activism among this demographic.

Gravity's first initiative in the fight against HIV/AIDS has been their benefit party/show Healing InnoVations. This unique show brings artists and audiences from various backgrounds and musical/artistic genres together to celeberate life but also encourage action around HIV/AIDS. While the focus is on the situation in Africa among young people, Healing InnoVations makes a point to highlight the serious situation here in the United States specifically as it relates to young people of color along class, gender, and sexual lines.

The show encourages communication between young people here and young people in various countries in Africa through art and technology. The show, which has had African artists from Uganda, Kenya and South Africa, is taped and sent to various organizations to show our commitment to the fight against AIDS as young people in the United States. Our website, www.consciousmovements.org and www.healinginnovations.net which can be accessed worldwide also serves as a communication tool.

Successes on the production-end of Healing InnoVations events are matched by a growing pool of interested and involved artists. The last showcase, on Friday April 13, 2001, was comprised of a varied and diversely talented ensemble of performers. Among the many were Bobbito, NYC's loved hip-hop DJ with a dedication to social and political issues; DJ OP of Conscious Movements Collective; DJ 9X from the drum 'n bass scene; Anthony Mills, who is currently touring with Harry Belafonte; Black Sonshine, a Southern African duo; the Anomolies, the underground hip hop female collective performed at both shows; and Chloe, who frequently works with Debbie Allen, opened up both shows with a tap piece.

Upcoming: An interactive Jookdisc® is being produced by sponsor Aerolith and Healing Innovations showcases are being developed for production in Atlanta and France.
